Full Line of Interface Concept’s Fully-Managed 6U VME Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet Switches Now Available from ACT/Technico

WARMINSTER, Pa. February 2008 – ACT/Technico (www.acttechnico.com), a leading supplier of embedded products and systems solutions built with CompactPCI, VMEbus, and other open architecture platforms, now offers the full line of Interface Concept’s (IC) fully-managed 6U Layer 3 (L3) VME Gigabit Ethernet Switches used in a variety of embedded applications. 

Ease of use is central to the design of the new low power T4070a series. The switches, which combine L2 bridging and L3 IPv4 and v6 routing capabilities on a single board, can easily be accessed from a browser, a remote application, a CLI or SNMP for flexible system monitoring. The plug and play switches are simple to install in a system and feature auto-crossover, auto-polarity, auto-negotiation and automatic MAC address management. 

Each T4070a switch provides 24 auto-sensing Gigabit Ethernet ports with full-wire speed switching capacity of up to 37 Mpps. Eight priority queues per port combined with comprehensive QoS capabilities make it easier to tune jitter in critical applications.

Twenty of the GigE ports are routed via the P0 and P2 rear connectors; the four remaining channels are available through the front or via the P2. The front option can also provide four 1000BT (RJ45) ports or optionally 1000SX/LX fiber channels. The Gigabit transceivers automatically select the media with activity.

Advanced security functions include 802.1x port authentication, address learning, threat management, multicast/broadcast limiting and an online virtual cable tester that allows remote identification of potential cable malfunctions including excessive pair skew, and impedance mismatch. 

IC’s Switchware software provides L3 functions allowing static and dynamic protocols (RIP, OSPF), IP routing, proxy-ARP and DHCP-relay through a CLIO. The processor carries out the IP and L3 protocols while forwarding is carried out by a full-wire speed L3 engine router.

Available in standard, extended temperature, rugged and conduction-cooled grades, the switches can be used as an open switching platform for both VME64x or stand-alone applications and are fully compatible with other Interface Concept ComEth products (4000a, 4020a, 4030a, 4050a).
